Dr. Lorenz Meister

Dr. Lorenz Meister is a research associate at the Socio-Economic Panel. His research focuses on political economy, with an emphasis on threats to democracy. He had research stays at the World Inequality Lab at Paris School of Economics (2025), at Harvard’s Opportunity Insights Lab (2024), and at the Department of Political Economy at King's College. He previously worked for the OECD, the United Nations, and the Max Planck Institute for Social Law and Social Policy. In September 2026, he will start a postdoc position at the University of Oxford.
